Love Graphs
Senior Thesis Project
for the Iovine & Young Academy
Love Graphs is a visual method for communicating your feelings about your relationship. I created Love Graphs as a way to ease communication, induce personal reflection, and build towards happier and healthier relationships.
Love Graphs make hard conversations easier.
I developed, tested, designed, illustrated, and marketed Love Graphs.
Theory
I made Love Graphs as a personal challenge to visualize information that is not easily quantified.
I chose relationships because:
1. making them numeric loses important nuances
2. they depend on efficient, effective communication
3. that communication can be hard to master
Through my work on this project, I developed and tested a technique that provides people in dyadic relationships (i.e. romantic, platonic, professional) with a visual structure to help them broach uncomfortable but important conversations about their relationships.
Love Graphs are most effective when used directly with a partner, but it can also be used with a friend, therapist, or other supportive person.
The Unique Selling Point of Love Graphs is emotional clarity and, in the long-term, self-awareness and healthier relationships. Love Graphs were not developed to help evaluate how "good" or "bad" a relationship is.
